ARIS Summit and the Games+Learning+Society 12 Conferences 2016
I had the good fortune to attend the ARIS Summit and GLS 12 Conference in Madison, Wisconsin from August 16-19. This was the second year for me to completely immerse myself in the games for learning community of academics. Unfortunately, this was the last GLS conference with husband and wife team Kurt Squire and Constance Steinkueler, who have both taken positions at UC Irvine.
One of the big highlights for me was the opportunity to present my game design to a group of game researchers at the summit. They started with emotional targets listed below and brainstormed ideas and mechanics. The conversations were fruitful and the advice really helped me to focus on how the capabilities of ARIS could be best matched with my design.
